Fit Physical Activity into Your Work Day!
Good News: Every bit of physical activity you fit into your daily routine the better it is for your health!
How can you fit physical activity into your work day? Try the following easy ways to fit in extra steps:
- Instead of the elevator, take the stairs— for flights of 7 or less, you are likely to get to your floor faster that way!
- Find yourself losing energy at work? Take a brisk walk during your break with colleagues— the physical activity will help improve your focus and boost your energy level!
- Discuss work items on the move in a walking meeting, rather than sitting down. You may find your creative ideas spinning!
- Schedule physical activity times in your calendar as a physical activity “appointment” you don’t want to miss!
- Use a map of local trails to mark an active transportation route to work. If you find yourself sitting in traffic on your drive to and from work, taking your bike or walking may get you there faster!
- Choose a parking spot farther away from your work entrance, or get off the bus a few stops early if you cannot use active transportation on your entire route to work.
